They exploited a brief lapse in concentration from the Saudi defence when Ghanim Al Habashi levelled the scores in the 70th minute, silencing the pro-Saudi crowd. The setback only spurred the Saudis forward, and seven minutes later, substitute Saleh Al Shehri became the hero, reacting quickest in the box to smash home the winner. This hard-fought 2-1 victory ensures Saudi Arabia stays level on points with Morocco at the top of Group B.

The final match of the day brought the African powerhouse Egypt face-to-face with an organized and spirited Kuwaiti side. Playing at the magnificent Lusail Stadium, Egypt was heavily favoured, but Kuwait, backed by a strong fan presence, had other plans.Kuwait took a shocking lead in the 34th minute when Fahed Al Hajeri headed home a corner kick. In the 88th minute, Kuwaiti goalkeeper Soud Al Houshan was shown a red card for a reckless challenge inside the box, resulting in a second penalty. Striker Mostafa Sherif stepped up and coolly struck the ball into the net, sealing a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory for Egypt. The result was a huge relief for the Egyptians, who overcame a massive scare to claim the three points in Group C.
